RYAN J. FORD
BARBER + OWNER
Ryan grew up in Woodstock and moved to Toronto in 1999 to pursue his passion for music. He spent the better part of a decade playing in various bands, recording records, and touring. Along with Ryan’s music career, he spent about 15 years working on and off in the restaurant industry as a bartender, waiter, and finally as a Sommelier.
Ryan always had an underlying passion for the hair industry, but it wasn’t until the resurgence of the Barbershop that he decided to take the plunge, making a massive career change at age 38. He landed an apprenticeship with Glassbox Barbershop in Toronto and acquired Education from Menspire, Ruger, and Three Education. After only 4 years in the industry, Ryan fulfilled his dream of opening up his own Barbershop. His goal at J.S. Ryan & Co. is to offer a unique and all-inclusive experience with an emphasis on quality.
RICHELLE ALLAN
BARBER + HAIRSTYLIST
Originally from Calgary, Alberta, Richelle completed her hairdressing education and worked as a stylist in her home province before moving to Ontario. While Richelle learned the basics in Calgary, she obtained a stronger fundamental background and mastered advanced precision cutting under her mentor and former employer, Aran Beattie.
Richelle was a hairstylist for over 12 years, working with colour and both men’s and women’s hair. Her fascination for men’s fashion and styling inspired her to shift her hairdressing focus to barbering. Richelle now works mainly with short hair, using geometric shapes and the combination of modern techniques & traditional cutting to create the perfect look. Much of Richelle’s barbering inspiration stems from the early 1900s-1950s, a time where barber culture was much more prominent.
JIMMY TRAVIS
BARBER
Jim (Jimmy) Travis, grew up in a small town outside of London, Ontario, and eventually moved to London in 1998 to pursue schooling at Fanshawe College for Industrial Design. Since his youth, Jimmy has always loved art, music, skateboarding, and the surrounding subculture. His goal as a barber is to incorporate this passion into his work. In addition to his career as a barber, Jimmy owns and operates “London Skateboard Co-op” with a group of his close friends. Here, he is responsible for the art department, purchasing, and planning and executing events. Jimmy is a very busy guy, but that’s the way he likes it!
